Blackjack winning techniques usually consider the dealer's upcard and encourage players to play each hand as efficiently as possible. The player should keep drawing until the total is 17 or above when the dealer's upcard is a strong one, such as an ace, 7, 8, 9, or 10. When the player gets a total of 12 or more, he should stop drawing when the dealer's upcard is a terrible 4, 5, or 6. Never take a card in this case if there's even a slight chance you'll go bankrupt. With this weak holding, the goal is to let the dealer hit and potentially go beyond 21.

The player should stop when their total is 13 or more if the dealer's up card is an acceptable number, like a 2 or 3.

Generally speaking, keep hitting with a gentle hand until you are at least eighteen.The player would hit rather than stop at 17 (or 7) with an ace and a six.

The basic approach states that when the player's total reaches 11, they should always double down. The player should double down if the dealer does not reveal an ace or ten card and he has a total of 10. If a player has a total of 9, they shouldn't double until the dealer has a poor or fair card (2–6) in all other situations.

Since pairs of fives or two identical tens add up to 10, they are better suited for doubling down and should never be divided. Aces and eights should always be shared by players instead. The sum of 8 is a desirable number to draw from, thus a pair of 4s should also not be divided. Generally speaking, you can split 2s, 3s, and 7s unless the dealer has an 8, 9, ten, or ace. In conclusion, unless the dealer's card is weak (2–6), 6s shouldn't be divided.
